Being a medical scientist for internal medicine, my area of expertise is respiratory medicine (bronchial, pulmonary, pleural, extrapleural and respiration disorders as well as internal intensive care, infectious diseases environmental medicine and allergology.
I have acquired these qualifications at the faculty for medicine at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University in Bonn. In addition, I have attended many advanced trainings for specialists in Bonn, Heidelberg and Barcelona/Spain. The most important teachers - both, regarding clinical and scientific education - during my studies were J. Reuther, MD (Bonn), H.J. Dengler, MD, Professor of medicine (Bonn), B. Lüderitz , MD, Professor of medicine (Bonn), V. Schulz, MD, Professor of medicine (Heidelberg) as well as A. Torres , MD, Professor of medicine (Barcelona/Spain).
Together with our team, it is my ambition and aim to assure the best medical care and treatment for any patient suffering from any bronchial and/or pulmonary disease. In our opinion, the best medical care comprises efforts to develop a good contact to the diseased person, the continuous establishment of a high expertise at the top of the most recent standard of knowledge as well as the establishment of a philanthropic setting.
It is absolutely understood for us that persons - not only their organs - become ill. Thus, the wholistic view of the patient - paying respect to physical as well as to bio-psycho-social aspects of the disease - is mandatory . Our Christian hospital offers excellent conditions to comply with these requirements.
I make every effort to put this view on a sound basis in theory as well, and, therefore, I continuously pursue my studies in the fiels of theology, philosophy and psychotherapy. My particular commitment in the field of medical ethics is reflected by numerous scientific dissertations and articles as well as in many practical activities.
Being also an academic professor, in addition to health care and treatment of patients, I am as well committed to clinical research and education. We strive for working on important and clinically relevant questions in the field of respiratory infections in a scientific way as well. Thus, the care and treatment of diseased persons becomes consistently improved.
Coming from the Rhinelands, my family and me felt comfortable about the Ruhr Area right from the beginning. I am glad to live and work here serving the people and their well-being. |
