The pneumological clinic seizes 38 beds within the Augusta-Kranken-Anstalt (Augusta hospital in Bochum). 800 patients have been stationary cared for during the accounting year 2006. In relation to the total number of cases - the ten most frequently treated cases in the pneunological clinic in 2006 were:

   (permanent respiratory disease with a restriction of the respiratory tracts)
2. neoplasm of the respiratory organs
   (tumor of the respiratory organs)
3. infections and inflammations of respiratory organs
   (inflammations of respiratory organs)
4. bronchitis and bronchial asthma
   (inflammation or restriction of the respiratory tracts)
5. interstitial pulmonary disease
   (pulmonary tissue diseases e.g. pneumoconiosis)
6. other operational procedures at respiratory organs
   (other operational interventions at the respiratory organs)
7. ailment and symptoms of respiration
   (respiration difficulties)
8. cardiac insufficiency and shock
   (heart failure or circulatory shock)
9. tuberculosis
   (lung consumption)
10. sleep apnoea syndrome
    (extended respiratory pauses while sleeping, resulting in day fatigue or performance reduction)
